As far as I am concerned,
I have been engaged in the field of filmmaking and literary activities for over three
decades. In the meantime, I have completed a number of social, civic and
historical documentaries and Television films including a digital feature film
in Hindi based on the middle part of the Buddha’s life titled TATHAGATA, which was telecast from the
National networks on ‘Buddha Purnima’, 2nd May 2007.
Throughout my career I
have been intrigued by and felt a strong need of highlighting characters who have
left their indelible mark in the human history in my own humble ways. As a
Bengali, I am greatly moved by the towering personality of Rabindranath Tagore, the nobel laureate and recently working on his
fascinating life. Besides Tagore, the legendary characters of Socrates, Vyas (the author of Mahabharata),
Buddha have been the few others on whom I have plans to throw light on their
characters through my writings, documentaries or even films.
Recently I have
researched, written songs and scripted with Goutam Ghose for his award winning
film MONER MANUSH.
Besides, I have written
and published 21 novels, which are primarily based on mythological, social and
socio-economic issues of the day. Those novels have attracted the attention of
the Indian literary and intellectual world.
My novels are included in
the sylabii for master’s degree courses in Indian Universities. Scholars are
working on my novels in different universities to obtain Doctoral degrees.
